Evaporative (Swamp) Coolers

Affordable, efficient cooling for the dry Antelope Valley climate.

Why Choose Evaporative Cooling?

In humid climates, swamp coolers are useless. But here in the high desert, where humidity is often below 10%, they are incredibly effective. A modern Mastercool unit can lower the air temperature by 20-30 degrees for a fraction of the electricity cost of central AC.

Mastercool vs. Standard Coolers

  • Standard (Aspen Pads): The classic metal box. Cheap to install, but requires new pads every year and frequent maintenance.
  • Mastercool (Rigid Media): Uses thick 8-inch or 12-inch honeycomb pads. More expensive upfront, but cools much better, uses less water, and pads last 3-5 years.

Seasonal Start-Up & Shut-Down

Swamp coolers need love twice a year. In Spring, we connect the water, install new pads, and oil the bearings. In Fall, we drain the water, disconnect the line to prevent freezing, and install a cover to keep out drafts.
