What is a Packaged Unit?
Unlike a "split system" where the furnace is inside and the AC is outside, a Packaged
Unit contains everything in one big metal box on your roof (or sometimes on the
ground). This is very common in West Palmdale tract homes and older commercial buildings in
Lancaster.
Types of Packaged Units We Install
- Gas/Electric ("Gas Packs"): The most common type. It uses natural gas for
heating and electricity for cooling.
- Heat Pump Packaged Units: An all-electric solution that heats and cools. Great
for homes with solar.
- Dual-Fuel Hybrids: A heat pump with a gas furnace backup, all in one outdoor
cabinet.
The Crane Lift
Replacing a rooftop unit requires a crane. Don't worry—we handle all the logistics, permits, and
crane scheduling. We can often get the old unit down and the new one up in less than 4 hours.
Common Problems with Rooftop Units
- Sun Damage: Being on the roof exposes the wiring and insulation to the brutal
Antelope Valley sun.
- Bird Nests: Pigeons love to nest under these units, blocking airflow. We
install bird guards to prevent this.
- Vibration: If not mounted on a proper curb adapter, the unit can shake your
whole house.
